You don’t have to see the whole picture

In the words of the Eric Thomas, ‘There will never be the perfect time to do a great thing’. Not having all of our ‘ducks in a row’ is an excuse that many of us use to not move forward and achieve those goals we have set for ourselves.

What if we let go of the ‘I’m not prepared’ thought and just took the steps we were ready to take? We would certainly be closer to our dreams than we were yesterday and probably feeling a lot more confident about the ability to achieve them.

Who knows…perhaps in taking those initial steps you’ll realize that the ‘song sheet or map’ you were going to follow wasn’t the best route to achieving your dreams and this change of course meant that you didn’t need to be prepared for every step anyway because your path has changed. You may need different tools to get there, different connections, a different mindset or skill.

As Lao Tzu states, ‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’ and we know that continuous action results in momentum and momentum brings results.

What could happen if instead of thinking I’ll do it tomorrow’ or I’ll watch a little more TV or go out drinking all night with my friends this weekend because item X or process Y isn’t in place yet’, you decided to do what you could with what you had? Where would you be tomorrow? Where could you be next week?

Why not take the time to think what you could do today that your future will thank you for because it is in that place that you will find true growth, development and a new, improved, more confident and capable you.
