Who are you holding yourself back for?

So often in life we feel those little pings or pinches to do more, follow our hearts and become more of what we feel inspired to be but then…those moments are overcome by societal beliefs and fear of what others will think of us.

The wonderful Charlene White said it so well with, ‘I cannot, will not, be anything less than who I am for anybody.’

Often the path of becoming more and following our heart is more uncertain than going with the pack because it is a road less travelled and with that reality comes anxiety and fear.

But when looking at the idea of being more of your authentic self, why do we really care about what others think?

Being more of who we are doesn’t have to involve leaving your job and doing something outrageous, it can just start small. Perhaps in the way you express yourself, the way you chose to spend your time or what you decide to say no to.

In taking these steps, you may find one or more of the following…

* Those that love you for who you are will support you through anything and perhaps your personal ‘be more of me’ project could be a wonderful way to rid yourself of those people that should take more of a back seat (or no seat) in your life.
* You will start to feel happier and more true to yourself; sometimes when we deny our soul its full expression we feel it. It may be a subtle feeling but it is uncomfortable none the less.
* You find strength and resilience that you never knew you had. Things that you thought were hard to achieve in the past seem a lot easier.

Why not start today by writing a list of the things you have always wanted to do or the person you are that you have been denying and…start to take some steps towards finding the you that is longing to be discovered.
