Fear. A word with such negativity attached to it but today, I invite you to take some time to look at it with a different perspective.
I propose that fear is simply our ego (that part of us that tries to keep us safe in what we know) ’freaking out’. And our response? To stop. To halt. To freeze. To stop moving forward.
What if we decided to make fear our friend? When we see it/feel it, we smile and walk towards it like a new/old friend. We embrace it. We acknowledge that ‘fear’ is a sign that we are stretching and becoming more. We are going into the unknown and…while it might feel uncomfortable, there is great freedom (and an intense feeling of achievement) on the other side.
I invite you to write a list of things that you are afraid of. It could be anything…
• Public speaking
• Meeting new people
• A new skill you have been wanting to master forever
• Networking
• Asking for something at work
• Building a business/your own side project
Once you have your list, commit to facing one of them front on. Dive in wholeheartedly. Acknowledge any wins (no matter how small) and enjoy watching how you become bigger…better…stronger. We are here to expand and experience this physical universe – there is no better time to commit to this journey of self-discovery and development.
The fact that different things evoke fear in people demonstrates that we are all unique but also that fear is simply a creation of the mind. Your mind. And…if you created it, you can change how you see it.
Now that is a powerful and liberating reality.
Change happens when you do the work and the work is worth it.
