How often do you take time to look at the people you spend most of your time with. The late Jim Rohn was famous for the line…
‘You are the average of the 5 people you spend most of your time with’
Take a moment to think about who those people are. Do they challenge you (in a good way)? Do they make you want to embrace life with both arms (and legs)? Do they encourage you to be more/do more/become more? Are they thirsty for life and all the wonderful things that it offers? Are they a group that you continue to learn from?
They should.
It must be said that we don’t always get to choose everyone we ‘hang’ with. You can’t choose your family for example but…you can look around you at your ‘selected tribe’ and decide if it is still the tribe for you.
I don’t mean turning your back on long term friends but it might serve you to start to look at how these friendships are serving you and perhaps how you can maintain respect and love in those relationships you have had for some time but at the same time turn to look to spend more time with people that lift you to greater heights emotionally, mentally and even (yes I’m going to say it) spiritually.
It is in taking this step into the (sometimes) unknown and seeking a better environment for yourself (if you are in need of one) that you will give others the power, strength and desire to do the same through your action.
In the end, this is your life and it is your decision who you allow in to witness just how beautiful it is.
